Nysted
On behalf of the Italian cable producer Pirelli,
JD-Contractor A/S has carried out a number of tasks in relation
to the transmission cables to Nysted wind farm. The transmission
cables are amongst the largest submarine cables in the world, with
a weight of 73 kilos per running metre. In comparison the largest
submarine cable in the world, which JD-Contractor A/S laid out at
Horns Rev wind farm, which weighs 75 kilos per running metre.
In the autumn of 2002 we assisted Pirelli with
the laying of the two main transmission cables from the transformer
platform to the shore - approximately 20 kilometres. In addition
we embedded the cables to a depth of 1 metre into the seabed with
our unique jetting and trenching systems. Given that the transformer
platform was set up six months after the laying of the cable, it
was also JD-Contractor A/S responsibility to attach the transmission
cables to the transformer platform.
Finally JD-Contractor A/S was responsible for the
laying and embedding of 10.5 kilometres of communications cable
to the wind farm.
The majority of the work was done in the difficult
autumn and winter period, but nevertheless the job was carried out
without delays or accidents of any kind.
