Horns Rev 1
In connection with the establishing of a new
wind farm at Horns Rev we have laid the widest submarine cable
in the world. The cable has a diameter of 20 cm and weighs 75
kilo per running metre. It has been laid at a 22-kilometre long
distance from the West coast of Jutland to Horns Rev.
The work was carried out from the cable vessel
Henry P. Lading and was a subcontract from the cable producer
NEXANS. The Danish energy company Elsam A/S is responsible for
building the wind farm, and the work can be followed on a web
camera from the Internet address http://www.hornsrev.dk/.
Besides the laying of the largest cable in the
world, JD-Contractor A/S has the contract for laying and embedding
some of the submarine cables connected to the farm, therefore
M/S Cable One and M/S Honte also participated in the construction
of Horns Rev wind farm.
