Measurement Vehicle (MV1)
When the purpose of a cable survey is to establish
a safe knowledge of the burial depth of the cable, we use the measurement
vehicle (MV1). It is a vehicle that is especially designed for tracing
cables. Mostly this kind of survey will be carried out from C/S
Cable One, but the survey can also be carried out from some of our
other vessels. By using the MV1 it is possible to work at greater
depths without limited dive time.
The four-wheeled driven vehicle will move along
the cable route and measure positions of the cable in 3 dimensions.
The positions together with a video signal are
then delivered to the navigation system on board C/S Cable One.
Due to the construction of the cable a test signal
is introduced to the cable during the survey.
MV1 is our favourite and best solution for a cable
survey at a longer distance, while at shorter distances a commercial
diver can be equipped with similar instruments.
