Repair of drainage sluice at Hvide Sande

The client: The Danish Coastal Authority

The place: Hvide Sande, Denmark

The work: From the end of March to the beginning of May 2006 a diving team from JD-Contractor A/S worked on dredging and repairing the draining sluice at Hvide Sande in Denmark. Before we started dredging the sluice a diver carried out an initial inspection in order to remove all large objects at the bottom of the sluice.

An effective dredging had to be made before an inspection for cracks, holes and other damages to the concrete could be carried out.

Sand and mud were removed with an ejector/recoil suction pump. While a slurry pump was used in the guide-rail grave.

After dredging the diving team made a survey of the concrete, guide rails and plates in the drainage sluice. At the guide-rails it was important to examine whether the rails were supported everywhere.

When the survey was finished the repair work could begin. First plates were secured, then anodes were mounted and finally when the drainage sluice had been repaired a video inspection was carried out to document the result of the repair work.
