Cable repair between Bornholm and Sweden
The client: NKT Cables A/S
The work: Two out of three submarine
cables between Bornholm and southern Sweden were damaged in December
2005. JD-Contractor A/S was assigned to locate and repair the two
cables. Our diving and support vessel C/S Cable One was quickly
sent off to the area to locate the damaged parts of the submarine
cables. When the damages were located a ROV-inspection took place
in order to show what caused the damages, then the cable laying
barge Henry P. Lading repaired the cables and afterwards laid and
embedded them back into the seabed. The work was finished in February
2006.
Central cable: 4,287 metres were recovered and 4,314 metres were
spliced in.
Southwest cable: 1,100 metres were recovered and 1,137 metres were
spliced in.
