Oil collector
This oil collector is constructed, as a steel pyramid
with a valve on top, to descend onto oil leakages, primarily from
damaged electricity cables. The pyramid is shaped to prevent fishing
equipment from attaching onto it; thus the drain valve is integrated
and covered.
The pyramid is a temporary solution only to be used in the case
of acute oil leakage to protect the environment until the damaged
cable is repaired. The pyramid can hold up to 6.3 m3 oil before
requiring emptying.
In addition, the pyramid is useful for leakages
from ship wrecks, and was recently used at the oil disaster from
the Chinese freight ship Fu Shan Hai wrecked north of Bornholm (2003)
